In 2008 my husband and I decided to try our hand at farming. We had no previous experience at what we were doing except for raising a few laying hens. After all the media hype with E-coli and other strange things in our food we just had a strong desire to know where our food was coming from. We both have full time jobs and a 14 year old son. We have jumped into this with both feet and we are learning as we go. We are interested to hear other people's comments.
Lisa, OK then. Short and sweet. I'm enjoying Fall to the fullest. We've had a little rain so gardening has been at a minimum the last couple days. Maybe tomorrow the cleanup will continue. I have four more beds to cleanup before the ground freezes. I've already started emptying my water tanks. All the plants are in the compost except for four tomato plants which will be gone next week. Water tanks are being drained and soon beds will be covered in Fall grass/leaf mixture and be snug until the Spring thaw.
We've had a drought. It's the worse one since they started keeping records 100 years ago. We've been lucky and haven't run out of water, but most people aren't so lucky.
