Where did it go?!

Where did the summer go?

I'm not sure?

I know the summer usually goes by fast, but this is ridiculous.

I'm still looking for it.

If you find it, can you let me know?

The only vacation we had was a few days in Halifax. It was nice to get away from the farm.

This summer we were lucky to have helpers from HelpX.

All three were from France. So far people from France are super helpers!!! And excellent cooks.

Myriam cooked beef bourguigion. Yum! She did the fast method (it took two days). Then the last few weeks we had Sonia and Agathe. They made us crepes sarazzin aux ble noir and dessert crepes.
Awesome!!

Then we had Open Farm day in September. It was a super busy day.

My soap, apple butter and goat fudge

Yours truly teaching how to make soap

But the summer has been an adventure and my garden turned out super dooper.

My dill

Onions

An entire meal made with the fruits of our labour

Our carrots kinda freaked me out! I didn't realize how big they were!

So now things are slowing down...well...kinda.

Have a Blessed Day
Lisa

  1. Lisa, summer flew by here in Nebraska too. I'm not sure it ever arrived. The summer was very different this year. We had below normal temperatures most of the summer with double the normal rainfall. Gardens were a bit disappointing to say the least. I mostly just gave up after the challenging spring weather that forced me to replant three times. The harvest was barely enough to keep fresh on the table. I really am looking forward to this garden season to end and start planning for next year. I will have safe guards in place if another year like this one comes along.

I'm glad to hear that your harvest has been abundant. It's always a good thing to be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It sounds like the help you received this year was awesome. Enjoying the French cooking was just a little icing on the cake, don't you think?

Have a great fall day in the garden.

    1. We actually had a very dry summer, so I had the garden hose out a lot. Something I don't like doing.

  2. Hey Lisa - Summer flew right by for us as well and I'm still looking for it too lol Pretty cool that you had helpers from France. Did you all speak French the whole time? Glad your garden did well. Mine did as well as it could with all the rain and little heat.

    1. Yes, we did speak French, but also English, since they wanted to learn more English.
